Understanding the Neurobiology of Motivation and Addiction
Why do rewarding experiences sometimes transition into compulsive behaviors? What changes in the brain drive excessive alcohol consumption, compulsive eating, and the persistence of these behaviors despite harmful consequences?
My research investigates the neural circuits, molecular mechanisms, and pharmacological targets underlying, motivation, addiction, and stress-related disorders, with the goal of identifying novel potential therapeutic targets.
