Inferno is an experimental, literary-rock music project composed, arranged and produced by Pietro Cottone. Inferno is a gapless, concept album, which fuses rock music and poetry narration, to describe Dante Alighieri’s symbolic and still extraordinarily modern journey into Hell. With 2015 marking the 750th anniversary of Dante‘s birth, Inferno brings the listener through the evilness, weaknesses and misery of human nature. The use of rumors, sound effects and dissonances creates a visionary dimension typical of psychedelic rock. The unifying and epic theme, the use of complex time signatures and the frequent changes of tempo are what characterize Inferno as a progressive rock album. In Inferno simple music motifs repeat obsessively, and progressively develop into climaxes, underlying the minimalist nature of the project. Inferno is also a poetry narration: music is accompanied by a voice which recites selected verses from the first Cantica of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
